Connections to the VividCAN are with a DB9F to OBD-II for vehicle or bench connections or Micro-USB for PC connection to Vehicle Spy.

Warning

Warning: Simultaneous connections of the “DB9F to OBD-II” in a vehicle or bench and the “Micro-USB for PC connection” to a PC may result in a voltage offset that may damage the unit. Only connect to one source at a time.

4.1.1. Overview of the VividCAN

The label of the VividCAN shows the device serial number and the pinouts for the type of network cable supplied (DB-9 connector). Cable options and network connector pin details for the VividCAN can be found in Section 3.2 (Cable Options) and Section 6 (Connector Pinouts and Cable Signal Mappings).

SDCard and Ethernet Port

The SDCard slot and Ethernet port on the Vividcan are non-functional. Future product designs are planned for these features.

Front Display Panel

The touchscreen can be customized by creating a Vehicle Spy Graphical Panel and downloading it into the VividCAN. The panel’s controls will be visible on the VividCAN, and controls like buttons selectable via its touchscreen interface. You can also display live CAN signal values. Additional functions, such as diagnostics, message decoding, and message transmitting, can also be included. Each VividCAN device supports up to 16 Graphical Panels. The VividCAN is not a data logger – no data can be saved in the VividCAN
