3. A Tour of RAD-Jupiter Hardware

Before learning how to configure and set up the device, let’s examine the device from all sides to understand all of its interfaces and status indicators.

3.1. Label and Status Indicators

3.1.1. LED Indicators and Membrane Buttons

The function of the LED indicators is defined by which membrane button is active (flashing).

Pressing the purple membrane button activates the purple labels:

  • AE1-AE5: Link Status of Automotive Ethernet Ports 1-5
  • AE6: The status of the 1000BASE-T1 port
  • HSCAN 1-2 Status

Pressing the white membrane button activates the white labels: (user defined)

  • LIN: LIN Status
  • CoreMini Active (1 Circular Arrow)
  • Sync 1-5 (2 Circular Arrows): Reserved for future use

The color of the membrane button indicates the state of RAD-Jupiter

3.2.1. USB C (Left): This connection serves 3 purposes

  1. Device power from a USB 3.0 rated port. (1A)
  2. GIGE / USB Bridge (When enabled)
  3. Data Connection for VSPY 3 and configuration using neoVI Explorer

3.2.3. ETH1/ETH2 (Right):

The standard RJ-45 jacks have a pair of integrated LEDs that provide information about the RAD-Jupiter’s conventional Gigabit Ethernet connection:

3.2.4. VDC (Left):

The device can be powered using the DC supply provided with your purchase. If an alternate DC supply is used, it must be within the range of 5V-40V with a current capacity of 1 Amp, or the device may malfunction or be permanently damaged.
