8.2. Ethernet Hardware Time Stamping
All ICS hardware generate timestamps for Ethernet messages that are sent and received. Due to some necessary design differences between products, there are some slight differences in exactly when the timestamps are recorded relative to the actual transmission or receipt of the frame.
